DMX is a stage lighting protocol that allows all lamps to be controlled individually. In the DMX512 protocol, 512 'intensities' (of 8 bit) can be transferred in one package, using RS485. The protocol is standardized and in use for many years in theater lighting.
An addition to the DMX512 is the RDM (Remove Device Management) protocol, that allows devices to be configured after they are mounted. This enhances the flexibility of the network.
Engineering Spirit developed controllers that handle the DMX and RDM protocols and drive lamps or LED lighting in medium and higher power applications.
